The Steadfast Sleuths Final Reflection

Well our radio show aired last week, so it has been awhile since I have thought about this, but I think I can still summon up a response for my reflection. I thought listening along would be super awkward and uncomfortable because it people would be commenting on your work, but I actually really enjoyed it. I liked seeing people respond to our show in the ways we had intended. It validated the show for me in many ways. It was nice to be able to respond when people had questions, and also to point out that The Steadfast Sleuths was a Noir Soap Opera, so there has to be a cliffhanger at the end. Sorry guys, you will have to turn into our video project at the end of next week to find out what happens next.

The actual making of the radio show took a lot more time than I had anticipated even with our group staying ahead of the game on the assignment. Even though we all edited and wrote various scenes in the show, editing the entire show together TOOK FOREVER! We finished it within the personal deadline we had set for ourselves, but it was a lot of work in a very short time. I  think that my advice to future ds106ers would be to really take this into consideration. That being said, it was a lot of really fun work in a short amount of time. Kim, Kayleigh and I commented on how it was probably one of our favorite projects in all of college, because even though we stayed up really late working on it and had to put in a lot of effort, we had fun writing the script and recording the lines together. At times it was hard to keep the fluidity in our radio show, because we had divided up the scenes so that we each could put in our own work to the show, but I don’t think this was too noticeable to the listeners. We worked on continuity as a group and coming up with a fun and logical plot. I would highly recommend actually meeting in person with your group members, because I think that it prevents one person from doing all of the work and also yields more creative ideas. We ended up liking together on this project so much that we have now begun working on a sequel for the video assignment, so I think I would consider this radio show project to be a success.
